Have a hoot with us this fall during our full day Tracy Aviary Fall Break Camps! Each camp welcomes children in 1st through 4th grade and runs one full day from 9 am to 4 pm. Our camps explore different autumnal themes through crafts, games and up-close, personal experiences with Tracy Aviary’s most charismatic birds, providing your child with an exciting day investigating birds and the natural world. Since each day is different, you are free to choose the camps that appeal to you and your child’s interests. Our Fall Break Camps are sure to engage, entertain and educate your child.

Camp Menu

A Migration Vacation
October 17th, 2012
9am-4pm

As the days get shorter, some of our native Great Salt Lake birds decide to take a trip to better food and warmer weather— a migration vacation! Campers will spend the first half of camp exploring how our wetland birds make their impressive journeys each year, and the second half of the day delving into and celebrating the tropics that await them in Central and South America. We will explore why wetlands are so important to migratory birds, go on a migration of our own, and best of all meet some of our migrators and tropical friends up close and personal.

 Bird Boot Camp
October 18th, 2012
9am-4pm

When the going gets tough, the tough… stay right here in Utah! While some birds are busy migrating to warmer weather, others are preparing for the cold, hard winter right in our backyards. In this camp, campers will learn the tricks and tools of birds who stick around even when it’s snowing and how we can help the birds who enjoy winter right alongside us through games, crafts, and of course the birds themselves.

Care of Magical Avian Creatures
October 19th, 2012
9am-4pm

When it comes to magical creatures, birds can be some of the best around! Join us in camp to learn about some of the world’s most impressive magical and mythical birds…and how to take care of them! From phoenixes to rocs, scarecrows to wizard’s owls, every camper will find a creature and its real-life bird counterpart to fall in love with as we play, create, and discover in the company of some of our favorite Aviary birds.

Lunch hour is staff monitored and does not require pick-up.

Registering for Summer Camp

Registration for camp is now closed. If you have any questions, please call our Bird Programs Department at 801-596-8500 x116.

• Registration fees include AM and PM snack, camp materials and one 2012 camp shirt.
• Space is limited to 15 participants per camp.
• Child must be currently enrolled in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th grade.
• After registering, you will receive a confirmation e-mail of camp safety and legal forms. Completed forms must be provided to Tracy Aviary on the first day of camp. Please inform us of any food allergies or medical conditions upon enrollment.

Cancellation Policy
In the event that your child cannot attend the camp he/she is registered for, a 75% refund will be given provided that you give Tracy Aviary at least two weeks notice prior to the start date of the camp your child is registered for. A refund will not be given if cancellation is made less than one week prior to the camp. If Tracy Aviary must cancel a camp, registrants will be notified no less than one week before the day of camp and will be granted either a full refund or the option to enroll in future camps.

Arrival and Pick-Up

If not enrolled in Before Care, children must be dropped off between 8:45am and 9:00am. At no time may any child be left unattended. If not enrolled in After Care, children must be picked up promptly at 4pm.

Camp Before and After Care
Campers enrolled in these programs will spend an hour at the beginning/end of each camp day under the supervision of our camp staff, providing parents with additional pick-up/drop-off flexibility. Before Care campers must be dropped off promptly at 8:00am. After Care campers must be picked up promptly at 5:00pm.

Before/After Care sessions are available in week-long packages of $25 each.
Before Care: 8:00am-9:00am
After Care: 4:00pm-5:00pm

Lunch and Snacks
Campers will enjoy a staff-supervised lunch break between 12pm and 1pm. Campers must bring their own lunch. A snack is provided for each AM and PM camp session.
