Donate Bird Seed

Tracy Aviary provides refuge for many birds throughout the year, including those of the wild. Our Feathered Friends Feeder Yard in the southeast corner encourages visits by numerous species of sparrows, chickadees, starlings and finches; some year-round.

Winter is a particularly stressful time for birds, forcing them to contend with cold, wet, and freezing conditions, with a variety of domestic predators and fewer places to find shelter or hiding.

Please donate bird seed to our Feathered Friends Exhibit feeders.

Kinds of Seeds We Seek

• nyjer thistle (for our chickadees and seasonal goldfinches)
• black oil sunflower (for many feeder visitors)
• wild bird mix (for many feeder visitors)

How to Donate

The best way to donate is to drop your gift off at our front ticketing window or in our nature store. We’ll thank you with your choice of either (a) one free adult day pass to save or use immediately, or (b) a 10% discount coupon for our nature store.

When to Donate

Year-round, any time during normal Aviary hours.
