This exhibit brings a little bit of Argentina to Utah, so you can see where some of our Utah birds go when they migrate.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of shorebirds from Utah’s Great Salt Lake fly south to winter in Argentina. In Destination Argentina! you get a glimpse of the world that some Utah birds visit when they head south every winter. You can experience a slice of Argentina right here at Tracy Aviary. No plane ticket required!
Walk through a free flight aviary in an “abandoned”
homestead on the pampas of Argentina, now taken over by common Argentine backyard birds – noisy monk parakeets, curious guira cuckoos, and flashy red-crested cardinals. Pause at the Red-legged Seriema exhibit, then wander past the wetland home of elegant black-necked swans and other beautiful, South American waterfowl. Round the bend, and come across a flock of Chilean flamingos feeding as along the shore of Laguna Mar Chiquita, Argentina’s own version of a “Great Salt Lake.”
